First-Quality Bergeon 6111 Spring Bar Tool With Bergeon's Name Stamped On It

This is the best spring bar tool on the market. Max Sussman, who gave me a sample many years ago (1984-85?), discovered it. I did not think much of it at first, and it spent about a year in my desk. One day a customer came in and wanted help removing bars from a Seiko Divers Watch. We tried everything, and then I remembered that this tool was in my desk. Within seconds we had the spring bars removed and I have never used another tool since. It took me about three years to convince Bergeon to sell this too. It comes with one tip that is reversible: a small fork on one end and a pin pusher on the other. The other tip is a large fork, which is the most useful end for removing spring bars quickly on leather straps and is the end which will remove the bars on Seiko rubber divers bands. The small fork is for grabbing spring bars for the backside of metal bands. Bergeon is not the Swiss maker of this tool, however Bergeon sells this item by the number 6111

There is no doubt among the users of this tool the it is the best spring bar tool to buy. I have been using spring bars tools for over 40 years now and no other tool is even worthy of your consideration. Do not be fooled by the claims of those who simply never used this tool. Here are some comments of real users: "The small fork is exactly the same size on the FB-504 (6111) as the AF17.450/BERG-6767-F, which measures 1.20 mm; the pin is exactly the same size on each. The advantage of the 6111 is that you can get the larger spade fork in addition to the pin & small fork tips. I don't believe it's an option for the other model. The 6111 tips are double-ended, with a pin on one end and a fork on the other, which may help you decide. The collets lock the tip in place, while the other tool's tips screw in. I have both, by the way. I use the 6111 99% of the time. Sometimes you need to use two at the same time, which is why I have another." Another person writes, "I've owned the 6111 (FB-504) for years and love it, I've currently got the small fork on one end and the small pin on the other, it's a very useful tool. The large fork is useful for pushing straps out of the way in order to get to the spring bar flanges."

"Watchmakers Tip" when faced with a design that requires both end of the spring bars tip to be removed at the same time. Simply remove one end first and block the tip from going back into the hole with a piece of paper and then proceed to remove the tip on the out side so you can now remove the bracelet.

Nickel-plated and knurled handle. Length : 140 mm.

Bergeon #6 Presto Hand Remover White Handle

This Presto is intended for removal of sweep seconds hands, but is excellent for the hour and minute hands of many wristwatches (as well as subsidiary hands like power reserve, date, etc). This is a very useful tool for most watchmakers and along with the Presto #1 (FB-400) and Bergeon 6016 (FB-410) is among my favorites. I use this Presto #6 more than any other hand remover.

Bergeon #1 Presto Hand Remover Black Handle

Sized for most wristwatches, this tool provides twin blades that slip under the hub of the hand and a plunger on top that holds the hand once removed. As the sides of the tool are squeezed, the nylon blocks on the dial descend, push on the dial surface, and lift the hand straight off the pinion. I use this tool regularly. I thin down and polish the blades for use on small wristwatches so that they are as thin and smooth as possible. Always protect the dial when using this or any other hand-remover tool. The Presto #6 (FB-405) and Bergeon 6016 (FB-410) are two other very useful tools for wristwatches. If you're going to have only one hand remover for contemporary wristwatches, make it the Presto #6 (FB-405).

Sliding-Lock Pin Vise

This Bergeon pin vise uses a slide lock for the steel jaws. The body of the tool is nickel-plated brass. The opening is 0.0 to 1.5 millimeter. Sometimes the conventional pinvise with rotating collar is difficult to use in one-handed operation. The sliding-lock design of this tool is the perfect, sometimes indispensable, solution. I have one and use it a lot.

Green ScrewBall Case Opener

You might never use another screw back case opener after you try one of these special balls to open screw back cases! Just hold the watch on one hand and the ScrewBall in the other hand. Press the ScrewBall against case back and start screwing the back off. It really is that simple and does work very well. Everyone who opens screw back cases should have one of these ScrewBalls.

When using the ScrewBall case opener you no-longer have to buy a case vise, which also saves you even more money!

Basic Level One Options Kit

This options kit might take some of the wallet pain of buying all the optional items at once. After all you are just taking a level one watch repair lessons on-line and you haven't even taken the watch apart yet! On the other hand all of these items are quite basic and if you do continue to fool with watches, then you will need all these items and much more. As it stands now it is possible to put on and take off hands with some of the items in the tool kit, however the products here will greatly reduce the chances of damage and will help a lot in the ease of getting the job done. You might have a cutter of some type already that you can use to cut the stem, and also a file to file off the bur left behind after you cut the stem. We already cracked open the back the level one cases we supply, however the ScrewBall case opener is a product you will always need. You can use a cloth instead of the case cushion.
